Pestering Heaven

Luke 18:1-8 “Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. “There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ “For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.'” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge *said; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? “I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” NASB

I Don’t Feel Like A Warrior

“He makes my feet like hinds’ feet,
And sets me upon my high places. He trains my hands for battle,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze…
I pursued my enemies and overtook them,
And I did not turn back until they were consumed.”  Psalm 18:33-34, 37 NASB

Saw this as a friend’s facebook status update recently, and I realized something-I don’t feel like a warrior.  More often than I would like to admit, when times get tough I wish I could just keep my head down, do my job, and wait for the storm to pass me by.  That’s not how life works, and I know it, believe me.  Yet oh how fervently I sometimes wish I didn’t have to struggle and fight in certain areas.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know about a fundraiser that I am doing to raise more finances for my involvement in missions.  I am making handmade cd case collages that can be hung on your wall as a decoration.  They also could make a lovely gift for a friend or family member.  Christmas is a comin’!  😉

Free Form Friday: Longing for Fall

Just a little bit over one week left of August. At the end of next week, a new year of working with School of the Bible begins.

I don’t know offhand what the “official” first day of Fall is this year, though I’m sure it’s sometime in September, probably a few weeks from now. But for some reason, whenever the calendar clicks over to September, in my mind Fall has arrived.

Free Form Friday: Let’s Get This Party STARTed

Another week has flown by.  They say the older you get, the faster time goes by, and I’m finding it really is true.  Hoping to learn to make the most of the time I have.

Speaking of time flying by, I got an e-mail today as part of the START experiment, run by Jon Acuff (of Stuff Christians Like fame), noting that today marks the halfway point of this 24 day experiment.  Halfway already?  Really?  When and how did that happen?  It makes me want to reevaluate what I’ve done so far with it.

Free Form Friday: Movin’ On Up

Yes, it’s true.  I’m movin’ on up…to an apartment.  Many would probably see this as no big deal.  It’s an “efficiency” apartment, one room with kitchen and bathroom.  But for me, it’s much more.  You see, for the past few years I’ve lived in what I have come to refer to as the Cubbyhole-a very small room with tiny bathroom and a little counter for my cooking needs.  While the commute was handy (about 10 seconds from my front door to the classroom I work in), the other downside was that it was across campus from the rest of the housing.  Note, I am not saying this to complain.  The Cubbyhole had its time, place, and purpose, and I learned to make do and live very simply.

A Quick Update

Hi everyone!

First off, please accept my apologies for the lack of blog updates lately. Life has been a bit busy, and I have also been focusing primarily on my first e-book (more information to come in the future), though I have plenty of ideas to blog about!  Hoping to start updating this blog more regularly again though.

I also wanted to say a big thank you to all my readers, for your support and encouragement.

Finally, I wanted to announce that I will soon be launching a monthly e-newsletter with specific updates on what I am doing each month at School of the Bible. This content will be different than what is posted on the blog, so keep your eyes peeled, as I will be adding a subscription option for that in the very near future.

Have a great day!
